Hickory

One of the hardest and most durable woods in North America

Hickory is a very dense and stiff hardwood and is commonly used in applications where shock absorption or resistance is important. Depending upon the species, Hickory usually has a light brown hue with straight to wavy grain. Hickory is also characterized by its growth rings. Hickory has a myriad of uses besides cabinetry or furniture making, such as being used as firewood or smoking meats.
